Sedation Dentistry

Even though dental care is an important part of overall health care, going to the dentist is something that, for many children, can be scary and/or cause extreme anxiety. Some children may have had a previous bad dental experience or their parent has had a bad dental experience, and this experience in carried with them into their next dental provider's office; We want your child to feel comfortable while they are here. Dr. Rex offers various levels of sedation to help your child recieve dental treatment. These types of sedation include Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas), Mild to Moderate oral conscious sedation and Deep sedation. During the exam, Dr. Rex will evuate the treatment needs as well as the sedation needs of the child. These options will be reviewed with the parent and a plan will be put in place. Providing excellent dental work and keeping your child's fear and anxiety as low as possible is our goal. We want you both to have the best experience possible. Being relaxed during dental work is good for the patient, the parent and the dentist.

Dental Anxiety and Fear

Dental anxiety and fear is surprisingly common. This is one of the biggest reasons that people avoid making and keeping regular dental appointments for their children. Unfortunately, irregular dental care is not enough to catch reversible conditions; before too long a patient may require fillings or other advanced care.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide has been used in dental care for many decades. Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) is used to alleviate mild anxiety associated with dental treatment. This gas works quickly on the human body and it only takes a few breaths for your child to start to feel relaxed. Once the flow of nitrous is removed your child will return to normal within a few minutes. Your child will be able to go to school immediately after the appointment.
